"Sono una film-maker indipendente e amo il cinema che va oltre le definizioni e i confini di genere.
Amo fare film che nutrano, ispirino e donino consapevolezza. Credo che un film possa essere una medicina per gli occhi, il cuore e l'anima delle persone. Mi piacerebbe realizzare film su persone che hanno un messaggio importante da trasmettere al mondo".

Quando Sara parla di realizzare film che siano come una medicina, si riferisce alla scelta di fondare il suo lavoro di film-maker sul suo percorso spirituale. Dice di aver compreso che la sua carriera artistica e la sua pratica spirituale, che fino a qualche anno fa considerava distinte, sono in realtà la stessa cosa. "E io sono entrambe" afferma. Così, ha iniziato a lavorare alla realizzazione di film che raccontano la storia di persone che possono essere una fonte di ispirazione per gli altri, e che possono produrre un cambiamento nella coscienza dello spettatore. Grazie al suo maestro, Daniel Odier, conosce la poetessa Lalla, famosa mistica del IV sec. legata allo Shivaismo del Kashmir. E' un incontro importante e l'artista inizia la pratica del mattino con la lettura di un poema di Lalla, che diventa così una guida. "Sento una connessione profonda con lei e, come dice Daniel, nel corpus dei suoi poemi si ritrova tutta la pratica", dice.

L'incontro con una giovane donna indiana, Chandrika, che condivide con lei l'amore per la poetessa mistica, spinge Sara Pozzoli a girare un corto su Lalla, con l'idea di di farne successivamente un film. Nel corto, girato in India, Sara Pozzoli riesce a trasmettere la profondità che la poetessa ha nel contatto con il reale, così come la bellezza e l'essenzialità dei suoi poemi, pervasi dalla potenza del suo amore. Immagini semplici ed eleganti che fanno di questo video un esempio di insegnamento e bellezza.

La giovane film-maker ha alcuni progetti cinematografici che vorrebbero raccontare la vita di alcuni maestri. Un film su Daniel Odier è certamente un progetto che vorremmo si realizzasse.

"I'm an independent filmmaker and I love cinema that goes beyond boundaries and definitions. I love making films that nourish, inspire and bring awareness. I believe that a film can be a medicine for the eyes, the heart and the soul of a person. I would love to create more and more film portraits of people who have an important message to bring to the world."

When Sara Pozzoli speaks about making films that are like medicinal cinema, she's talking about an alignment of her career as a filmmaker with her spiritual path. A few years ago, she said, what appeared to be two different ways, her artistic career and her spiritual practice, came together through the understanding that they were the same way. "I am both," she said. From there, she has been working on making portraits of people who can inspire others and who can create a shift in the consciousness of the viewers.

She was introduced to Lalla, a Kashmiri mystic and poetess from the fourteenth century, by Daniel Odier. It was an intense encounter. The artist started practicing every morning by reading a poem from Lalla. She became like a guide in her practice. "I felt a really strong connection with her, and, as Daniel said, in the corpus of the poem you find all the practice," she explained. A meeting with Chandrika, a young Indian woman who shared the same love for Lalla, brought Sara Pozzoli to film a short video about Lalla with the idea of turning it into a film. In this video, filmed in India, Pozzoli transmits the profoundness of Lalla's contact with reality, as well as the rawness and beauty of her poems, imbued with the power of her devotion and love. The simple and elegant visuals turn this short film into a delicate compound of teachings and beauty. There are other masters on the young filmmaker's mind, aiming to bring to the screen the lives and messages of people devoted to others. Daniel Odier's portrait is certainly one of the projects we all wish to see come to life.
