"Nello spazio del tempo ordinario, il filo dei miei pensieri forma un pezzetto di idea, un pretesto che servirà da esca nel comfort dell'atelier. Perché io non mi stanco mai dei piaceri dell'argilla, come quello di perdermi nella moltitudine di linee che forma la scultura. In quell'istante abbandono l'idea, per andare verso un altro luogo che non ha punti di riferimento sapendo che, al mio ritorno, tutto sarà diventato calmo e sereno."
Le sculture di Caroline Gutierrez raccontano la relazione tra lentezza e velocità nel suo lavorare la materia. Infatti, uno degli effetti che ha notato dopo avere iniziato a praticare con Daniel Odier, è stato proprio acquisire rapidità nel realizzare le sue opere. Lavorare l'argilla è diventato più semplice e veloce, tanto da lasciarla stupita.
Racconta che prima di incontrare Daniel, aveva già la comprensione che tutto è uno, ma sentire le parole di un Maestro del lignaggio, l'ha portata a sperimentare nella realtà la verità di ciò. "Oggi conosco che cos'è [questa unità] grazie alle parole di Daniel. E' come se lui mi abbia spiegato cos'è", afferma. Alcune delle sculture di Caroline Gutierrez sono nate subito dopo aver partecipato ad un suo seminario.
"L'Or de la nuit", realizzato dopo un ritiro Chan, rappresenta l'amore nell'istante di un bacio. E' stato ispirato dalla cosiddetta trasmissione "da bocca a bocca" e dalla lentezza e morbidezza dell'azione. Nella coppia che si bacia, l'uomo è presente ma andrà via presto. L'artista introduce delle ali, ma non sa bene dove collocarle. Il risultato è la rappresentazione di un angelo con delle ali blu scuro intorno alla testa. La seconda scultura, realizzata questa volta dopo un ritiro sul Pratyabhijnâ, raffigura un altro bacio. L'artista racconta che subito prima di iniziare a scolpire, sentiva che la testa le scoppiava. Si affrettò a cuocere il pezzo, che durante la cottura esplose separando le due teste. "Ero dispiaciuta, perché il bacio non c'era più, ma col tempo ho come imparato a giocare con loro, ed ora tutto è ok. Sono insieme ma ognuno rimane da solo", spiega.

"For I never grow weary of the earth's favors, such as losing myself in the multitude of lines that form a sculpture. In this moment, I abandon the idea of moving towards an elsewhere without landmarks, knowing that once I am back everything will have become calm and peaceful."
Caroline Gutierrez' sculptures bring to the matter the subject of slowness, with a fast pace of creation. One of the effects she noticed after she started practicing with Daniel Odier, she said, was the speed she was reaching in producing her pieces. Her work with clay became easier and faster, to a point she was amazed to see.
Before meeting Daniel, the artist said, she had an understanding of oneness and the unity of all, but hearing the words of the lineage master brought this understanding to a practical level.
"I know what it is. Explained by Daniel, this space [of oneness] is here - he told us what it is," she said. Some of Gutierrez' sculptures have been born after attending retreats. The Night's Gold, made right after the Chan retreat, was created in response to an idea to represent love and the instant of the kiss. It was inspired by a teaching about mouth to mouth transmission, as well as slowness and softness through action. In this pair of figures kissing, the man is present, but he will soon leave. The artist added wings and, not being sure where to place them, they came out as the representation of an angel with dark blue wings around the head. The second sculpture made after a retreat was another kiss. The artist said that just before beginning the sculpture, she felt like her head was blown out. She hurried to burn the sculpture in a rushed way and, during the burning, the piece exploded and separated the two heads. It was right after the Pratyabhijna retreat. "I was sad because the kiss was not there, but with time I played with them and it's alright. They are together but they [remain] each one [alone]," she explained.
